Zeus glared at his sisters Amara and Demi from the other side of the kitchen table in their family home. He’d just asked them to evade their father as much as they could.

He should have known better than to think they would listen.

“I don’t get what’s the big deal, Z. Dad’s just going through a phase. Sure, he’s partying more. Okay, he’s embarrassing… But not more so than usual,” Amara said, shrugging her shoulders.

He couldn’t discuss club business with his sisters. It was up to him to keep them safe without giving them any details.

“Can’t you two just do what I ask of you for once in your lives?”

Amara stood from the kitchen table and plunked her plate on the kitchen counter. She whirled around to give him a piece of her mind, her long, raven hair flowing before her green eyes for a moment.

She wiped the strands away and said, “What did you expect us to do when Dad crashed at the house? You know he lives here too, right? If he’s not in his room at the clubhouse, he’s here. And it’s not like I have somewhere to crash. I don’t have a room at your filthy clubhouse. And you and your buddies were away all weekend, screwing those sluts.”

He didn’t like to see his sister in pain. What she didn’t say, but what he’d read between the lines, was that she obviously hated the idea of Wolf staying at the bend this weekend.

Zeus sighed. He should stay out of it. Wolf had no fucking clue Amara had a thing for him. Zeus only did because he knew his sister like the back of his hand. Wolf and Amara weren’t dating. He was free to do whatever the fuck he wanted.

Hot anger flashed in Amara’s eyes, like she knew what he was thinking.

“You guys disgust me. And here you are badmouthing Dad. You know birds of a feather flock together.”

He stood from his seat and walked over to his sister. “Amara…”

His other sister, Demi, held his bicep and nodded to the kitchen window. “Z.”

Somehow, he’d missed his father’s hog driving up to the house. Zeus watched his father’s legs eat up the long dirt path up to the wrap-around-porch.

“Shit.”

The front door flew open with a bang, clinging to just one hinge to hold it up.

“Dad! Are you crazy!?” Demi shouted.

“Shut the fuck up, girl. I’m tired of you three tellin’ me what to do. I’m a grown man. If I want to kick in the door to my own home, I fuckin’ will.”

Zeus took a step forward, strategically putting his sisters behind his back.

“You think you could stop me if I’d wanted to take a swing at the bitch?”

He cringed at his father’s words. He never expected to ever feel this way, but Zeus was glad his mom wasn’t alive. Cancer ate her up from the inside, but at least she didn’t have to witness the love of her life stoop so low as to threaten her children.

“I don’t know what the hell you’re on, Prez, but you better think about this for a moment.
